About the Research Center for Quantum Engineering and Photonic Technology (RCQEPT)
The main target of this center is to investigate novel high-tech technology in the field of quantum engineering for implementing quantum technologies in Iran. In the not too distant future, quantum technologies like quantum computers will suppress the current ones, e.g. classical super computers. Accordingly, their dependent technologies such as a secure communication should be substituted by its quantum version. This fact opened on to setting up the first quantum research laboratory in Iran at Sharif University of Technology. Since photons are the best candidates for investigating quantum mechanics principles and their applications, the primary experimental study of the center is dedicated on quantum optics. Quantum communications via optical fibers are frontier as a first implemented quantum technologies out of labs in the world. Moreover, Quantum metrology and quantum sensing are the next future worldwide quantum technologies. And finally building a quantum computer will bring outstanding technological power. Therefore, the RCQEPT center pursues each of these steps gradually in row.
RCQEPT center founded 1395 (2016) under supervision of Professor Alireza Bahrampour faculty member of physics department at SUT. He has been accumulated groups of researchers and graduate students to study vigorously any essentials for fabrication an experimentation quantum laboratory. Hence, in near future the center will be one of the pioneers of quantum technologies in Iran.
Professor Alireza Bahrampour is the faculty member of physics Department at Sharif University of technology. He is skillful in variety of fields including:
electrical and communication engineering, mathematics, physics especially photonics and quantum optics. In addition, he used to be a managing director and chief of the board, Telecommunications Company of Iran, (regulator and implementer telecommunication in Iran, with our 4B dollars income 1999-2002), and member of Vice ministers board of Telecommunications Ministry.
The Management Board works closely together for the good of the center. Head of the Center discusses the strategic direction of the center with other Members of the Board. Executive Manager regularly consult on the progress being made in its implementation.
